You were finally coming around.\u00a0 Things were starting to fall in place.\u00a0 You had a plan for your spring semester as well as summer trips planned to the colleges.\u00a0 The only thing that could mess this up would be a virus that affects the entire World and causes our entire country to shut down putting the football season in jeopardy.\u00a0 \u00a0There’s no chance that could happen.\u00a0 Oh well guess what?<\/p>\n
With the college football season being an uncertainty and the 2020 high school football season in many states being on life support,\u00a0 the 2021 class is getting one heck of a raw deal as it pertains to college football recruiting.\u00a0 Those highly ranked and with solid offers in place are not feeling the pinch. However,\u00a0 prospects who are on the bubble and still waiting for their first committable offer have their hands nervously hovering over the panic button.<\/p>\n
We are in unchartered waters but if there is anything that we have learned in this society during this Covid-19 epidemic its that having a plan is the key to life.\u00a0 For under-recruited and non-offered ’21 prospects,\u00a0 disaster has struck.\u00a0 You do not have the ability to be evaluated during Spring football and you do not have the ability to be evaluated on campus at college summer camps.\u00a0 This means getting that offer is going to be difficult.\u00a0 What it does not mean though is curl up into the fetal position and die.<\/p>\n
Here are three things you need to do to help yourself in recruiting during this pandemic<\/p>\n
(1)\u00a0 Make Sure Your Hudl Video is Well Put Together<\/strong><\/p>\n Now more than ever,\u00a0 your Hudl highlight video is important.\u00a0 Without any of the other ways available for a coach to really evaluate you,\u00a0 the eye in the sky is going to be your biggest friend.\u00a0 You must have a highlight video already put together right now.\u00a0 In fact,\u00a0 if you don’t,\u00a0 you are basically telling the colleges that you aren’t really serious about football.\u00a0 There’s just no way around that.<\/p>\n No serious football player entering into their senior year does not have their highlight video put together.\u00a0 If that’s you then I am telling you that you aren’t serious about ball.\u00a0 Just having a highlight video is not enough though.\u00a0 The highlight video must be done right.\u00a0 Follow the simple rules.\u00a0 Put your best plays first.\u00a0 Show all that you can do in the first minute of the video.\u00a0 Edit the clips if they show too much before and after the play.\u00a0 Highlight yourself before the snap, etc.\u00a0 I have written multiple articles on how to make a highlight video that sells you. Type “highlight video” in the search bar of this blog and read away.<\/p>\n (2) Film Workout Videos<\/strong><\/p>\n It worked for the the prospects in the 2020 NFL draft,\u00a0 it’s bound to work for you.\u00a0 Perhaps you were injured your junior year or you,\u00a0 for whatever reason,\u00a0 do not have much in terms of highlights.\u00a0 Again,\u00a0 don’t curl up and die.\u00a0 If you are a good athlete,\u00a0 film your workouts.\u00a0 Are you fast,\u00a0 show yourself sprinting.\u00a0 Are you agile,\u00a0 film yourself doing your position drills.\u00a0 If you are strong in the weightroom, film yourself moving some weight.\u00a0 Yes,\u00a0 I know it’s hard to find a gym or park space right now but where there is a will there is a way.\u00a0 Show something you are strong at doing.\u00a0 Do not film,\u00a0 with the intent of distributing,\u00a0 video of yourself doing something that you are not very good at doing.\u00a0 Play up your strengths.<\/p>\n Once you have captured video of yourself doing those things that you are exceptional at doing,\u00a0 start posting them on social media and getting them out via email or DM to college coaches.<\/p>\n (3)\u00a0 Send Messages to Coaches<\/strong><\/p>\n This leads to the third,\u00a0 final and most important thing you need to do.\u00a0 Develop a serious list of schools that you wish to target.\u00a0 Then compile a list of coaches from those schools you need to get in touch with.\u00a0 For the most part,\u00a0 you should get contact info for three coaches at the school you are interested in.\u00a0 First the recruiting coordinator.\u00a0 Second the position coach.\u00a0 Third the coordinator for the side of the ball you are on.\u00a0 You can throw in the head coach if nothing else works but he’s like the big boss at the end of a challenging action video game.\u00a0 You have to get through all of the other guys first.<\/p>\n Limit your enthusiasm in this list making.\u00a0 With precious little time and evaluation,\u00a0 be smart about your list.\u00a0 Sure go after some dream schools but include a healthy amount of schools you think you have a good shot at and those you know you have a shot at getting offers from.\u00a0 None of us know how these next six months will go.\u00a0 A bird in the hand is worth a dozen in the bush right now.\u00a0 Secure a scholarship offer.<\/p>\n Send those coaches a nice but short note detailing your intentions.\u00a0 Flat out ask them to watch your video(s) and evaluate you.\u00a0 Be bold,\u00a0 ask for what you want.\u00a0 Send them your well put together Hudl video.\u00a0 Supplement that with your workout videos showing what you can bring to the table as a player in their program.\u00a0 Certainly detail your high points including high academic achievement.\u00a0 This is no time to be shy.\u00a0 The same way people were getting punched in the face for toilet paper two months ago,\u00a0 is the same way the frenzy over the remaining scholarships will take place over the Summer and Fall.\u00a0 You better have your guard up and know how to throw a right hook.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" You were finally coming around.\u00a0 Things were starting to fall in place.\u00a0 You had a plan for your<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":4009,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,995],"tags":[1005,1004,822,689,1006],"class_list":["post-4007","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-general","category-recruiting-tips","tag-coaches","tag-coronavirus","tag-offers","tag-recruiting","tag-seniors"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4007","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4007"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4007\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4009"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4007"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4007"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gridironstuds.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4007"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
